Sally Bigham and Alban Lakata win the race for third place!

Both Sally Bigham and Alban Lakata finished 3rd at the recent Dolomiti SuperBike Marathon in Italy and the Albstadt Bike Marathon (Germany) respectively.

World Championship runner up Alban Lakata raced the Albstadt Marathon this last Saturday. It was brutally hot as the large field of riders started on the 86km at the turn of midday. Before long, a lead group formed, with Lakata in attendance. Continuous attacks saw this group shrink, until there were just three riders in contention. The decisive push from Jochen Käß (Multivan Merida Team) left Lakata wanting. The Austrian National Champion held on, taking third place on the day. It was a good result, and celebrating with the thousands of spectators on the day made it a little more special.

In Italy, the British Marathon Champion Sally Bigham rode the 16th Dolomiti SuperBike Marathon this last Sunday. It is a race that covers 119 km and 3900m of climbing. Sally found herself within the first few km in 2nd position, however during the course of the race, she slipped back to 7th place. The fight was on to pull back to the front. Impressively Bigham overtook competitor after competitor to finish 3rd. It had been nearly 6 hours in the saddle with a result to be pleased with.
