The Boulder Mountain Bike Alliance is a very involved cycling entity in Colorado. Ergon is becoming more and more involved with events and donations. What is going on with Ergon and the BMA?

Well, on Friday, Feb 6, the BMA is having its Fourth Annual Gala Banquet in order to raise funds for trailbuilding and group mountain bike events.

Last week, Ergon’s Sonya Looney went to a fundraising event for the Valmont Bike Park, which will be one of the coolest bike parks in the world.

BMA Board Member, Mike Barrow, receives 2 pairs of grips for the BMA Banquet Silent Auction.

Ergon donated 2 pairs of GX2 Carbon grips, 1 BD2 Backpack, and 1 autographed Topeak Ergon jersey by Dave Wiens’ the banquet’s silent auction.

The Valmont Bike Park Fundraiser was a great place to mingle with other people involved with the cycling industry. We were happy to hear numerous people praise the grips!

Pete Weber from IMBA gave us the lowdown on the new bike park. Ergon is also very involved with IMBA. We love trail and bike advocacy here!

Bobby Noyes’ enthusiasm is contagious.

Another point of view on the Valmont Bike Park.

We are all very excited about the Valmont Bike Park and to be a business partner of the Boulder Mountain Bike Alliance.

Bear Creek Bikes in Dalton, GA packed the house for the O’Deas 3rd Endurance Racing Klinik this past week. About 25 people from in and around Dalton and Chattanooga, TN showed up to listen to Eddie and Namrita’s riding and training tips and ask questions about Ergon products, bike fit, and nutrition. Shane had arranged for Moe’s Southwest
Grill to cater the event and they even had brownies and ice cream to keep everyone happy…mmmm.

Eddie and Namrita said they were happy with the turnout, the questions, and really impressed with the shop! If you are ever in North Georgia or near Chattanooga, check out Bear Creek Bikes.

The O’Deas are planning more Kliniks and Ergon product demos for the spring in Atlanta, GA, Macon, GA, and Winder, GA. Stay tuned for details!

Epic Rides is honored to announce Dave Wiens as our dedication recipient as we celebrate a Decade in the Desert at the 10th Annual Kona Bikes 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo. Known to many in the world of knobby tires as “Wiensy”, Wiens will be the guest of honor and a speaker at the Exchange Tent Dedication Dinner on Friday, February 13th!

Dave, the consummate good guy of mountain biking, has been successfully representing the industry since the early 80s. He was most recently highlighted after his win at the 2008 Leadville 100 Race Across the Sky, which is arguably one of America’s most difficult endurance events. Dave rode Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong off his wheel while claiming his 6th consecutive Leadville win.

For a complete list of Wiensy’s accomplishments click here. The Vanilla Gorilla, as he’s known by friends, currently resides in Gunnison, CO with his wife, fellow-mountain-bike-hall-of-fame inductee Susan Demattei-Wiens, and their three children.

Epic Rides invites you to kick off your Old Pueblo weekend on Friday evening with the Vanilla Gorilla and some of his friends as we enjoy a warm dinner prepared fresh by Blue Banjo BBQ inside the exchange tent and get to know Dave’s thoughts on the past, present and future of mountain biking.

$15 admits one; the evening will kick-off with a social hour at 6:00p on February 13th, dinner and guest speakers at 7:00p (we’ll even tuck ya in around the campfire after 8:30p). Each ticket includes dinner, some drinks and casual Sonoran style entertainment.

Click here to download your RSVP/ticket for the dedication dinner!

Dinner limited to the first 150 people.

Sorry for the lack of updates over the past 4 days or so, but our 2009 road trip season has begun. This past weekend, some of the Ergon USA crew spent 3 days riding in the desert of SW Utah with a bunch of folks that just plain like to ride their bikes.  No racing….no attitudes…..just good people spending time doing what they like to do.   The weather was anything but true desert, as we were hit with showers just about every single day we saddled up.

Ergon product was a plenty.  Many folks were already rocking the grips.  We arrived on site with product to demo, so some folks took advantage and spent the days riding the grips and packs.  Too bad the Ergon products don’t keep wet clay off your bike.  The wet weather made for some interesting mud removal sessions during the days.

Overall, it was 3 days of long rides.  Day 1 was 30 miles….Day 2 was 40 miles….and Day 3 was 104 miles.  Yes, I said 104 miles.  You can bet folks were thankful for the Ergon products they had.  Now it is time to reflect and clean up before the trip to Tucson, AZ in a few weeks time.

Hey! What is going on here!? Looks like all kinds of Ergon sponsored riders and teams are showing up in 2009 product catalogs. Now we have Troupe Racing Co. in the Knog catalog. Anyone else out there getting some catalog time?
