TROUPE RACING TAKES 3RD AT 24 HR OF ADRENALINE
This just in from solo racer, Tim VanGilder, at the recent 24 Hours of Adrenaline Idyllwild event…
I had a really solid ride and finished 3rd in the mens solo 24! This was one of my “A” races for the Spring, so i’m stoked to feel as good as i did coming off of a bad cold that kept me from going to Sea Otter.
Everything ran according to my plan of going out a bit conservative in the early laps, and then not backing down over night unless i had a good gap. At 4:45 am, i had 3 laps on 4th, so i decided to take a long break, have some solid foods, and take a quick 30 min nap. I woke up and hit the course just before 6 am and rode a few more steady laps just to be sure the 4th place rider could not catch me. By 11 am, it was mathematically impossible to catch me, or for me to catch 2nd, so i called it a race and we popped open a bottle of champagne!
The bike ran perfect – I could not have been more happy with how it rode. Nutrition went really well – I ran mostly on hammer heed and gels, with some sustained energy between bottles of heed. occasionally, I pitted and had some noodles or something solid. Nutrition was not an issue, and I had no cramping at all!
The night laps were great! It got down to 27 degrees but I stayed comfortable as long as I kept moving.
Troupe Racing Co. was for sure the team everyone had their eyes on. We had a team of women entered to race against the men’s teams (they took 6th!), a rider in the 8hr solo, and another solo rider who climbed up to 4th place thanks to some fast laps in the morning!
