NEW RIDERS FOR TEAM TOPEAK-ERGON IN EUROPE
For the coming season Team Topeak Ergon has gained strength in the form of three new riders. The most internationally renowned and the person with the most success already to his name is Alban Lakata. The Austrian, who won many events including the European Marathon Championships in Germany this year, will be concentrating on endurance events for the team. Stage races are also being planned for the Austrian National Champion, as well as different marathon races and selected cross-country events – in fact we expect him to start at Cape Epic (in a two man team with Rotwild’s Thomas Nicke) and take on the Transalp challenge.
The international flavour of the team will also be underlined again with the addition of the British Marathon Champion, Sally Bigham. Sally will race mostly on the island, but will also be targeting selected international marathon and endurance events. Germany isn’t being ignored either.
With Robert Mennen joining the team, the 23 year old German sees his addition to the team as his biggest chance. His sights are set on cross-country riding in the German Elite category. He also plans to make progess into the International scene. The remaining members of the team are familiar names to most of you, with Irina Kalentieva and Wolfram Kurschat continuing to ride in green and black at World Cup events. Back on German soil, Kim Tofaute and Benjamin Brochhagen will further fly the flag.
On the other side of the pond, Team Topeak Ergon’s resident MTB Legend, Dave Wiens will also get new team mates. In total, six riders will now ride Stateside.
