IN THE DEEP WOODS OF GEORGIA

Take 4 adventure seeking mountain bikers and send them on a 3 day bikepacking trip. Note that 2 of these riders are on demo Ergon packs. Lets see how they adapt to their new cargo carrying devices.

Test Subject 1 went all out. It appears that all gear needed for the weekend, except for the sleeping bag, has been strapped to his back. It also appears that the built in rain fly of the Ergon BD2 is also acting as a compression strap. Smart!

Test Subject 2 appears to have distributed the weight a bit more wisely on the bike and body. Unknown items are in the BD1, but we do find that the compression strap holds a pair of Croc’s nicely.

Upon further digging we found out that the 2 riders using the Ergon packs are the only 2 of the 4 to make it to camp each night. Other riders were forced to fall way behind due to sore backs and cumbersome gear hauling. Or, maybe it was the bears?

Yes, the bikepacking trip rocked….as did the Ergon packs. Here are the Test Subject’s final comments:
Test Subject 1: “The pack is really great. The framing and pivot system made the ride surprisingly comfortable.”
Test Subject 2: “The pack helped make the trip really enjoyable”.

ACTUALLY… There were six of us! I was not one of the ones using an Ergon pack but I saw these things pushed well beyond their intended capacities and they held up great. If you saw how much stuff was crammed into these things, you’d be amazed. If you need help testing the BC3 let me know!

A.Ron, we’ll keep you posted. I am sure the O’dea’s will have some to demo. Thanks for sending them the photos, and to let us have a little fun with this post.
